We are a resource and referral agency that fosters economic and emotional stability for heads of households.

There are no fees for our services, but we ask you to call ahead for an appointment: 712-258-4174

We are open Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m to 4:30 p.m. Appointments generally last a minimum of an hour.

Meet with us to discuss:
  • Constant money shortages.
  • Better job with better hours.
  • Preparing your resume and practicing for a job interview.
  • Community resources for which you are eligible.
  • Enrolling in school to increase your earning power.
  • Applying for local single parent scholarships for associate or bachelor degree college courses.
  • Applying for the United Way Certification Course scholarships for women in transition.
  • "How to' on parenting, working and attending school at the same time!
  • How to budget and shop for a used car.
  • Referrals to appropriate legal counsel.
 
United Way's Women's Power Lunch and  Women Aware CERTIFICATION Scholarships Now Available!

Single parents or homemakers in transition are encouraged to call Women Aware for an appointment: 712 258-4174. 

Certification courses are non-credit courses through an accredited institution in the Siouxland area.  Examples are: Certified Nurse Assistant, Payroll Clerk or Pharmacy Tech.
 
UNITED WAY WOMEN'S POWER LUNCH - WOMEN AWARE SINGLE PARENT SCHOLARSHIPS
Applications available now.  Completed applications must be received by United Way by May 25, 2012.

Applicants must provide proof:
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Document single primary custodial parent of a minor child.
  • Siouxland resident for 2 years.
  • Enrollment at a Siouxland United Way partner college.
